Not only is Cleveland, Ohio home to some of the best restaurant tippers in the nation, our city is also home to some of the least aggressive holiday drivers, too.
According to a study by GasBuddy, which compiles driver data based on its "Drives Feature," Clevelanders are some of the calmest drives out there. The Drives Feature study includes metrics from more than eight million drives in the top 50 metropolitan areas over this past Thanksgiving weekend - November 23 to 26 - monitoring things such as speeding, fast acceleration, hard braking, and more.
And after putting it all together, Cleveland came in fifth among the least aggressive holiday drivers, ranking just behind the following:
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Providence, Rhode Island
- Portland, Oregon
- Seattle, Washington
- Cleveland, Ohio
Another Ohio city - Columbus - found itself within the top ten as well (#10 to be exact).
Maybe it's the fact that Clevelanders are so used to the sometimes stressful weather this time of year. Or perhaps it's just due to our general Midwestern disposition and being overtaken by the holiday spirit, but whatever it is, people in Northeast Ohio seem to have a great time on the roads during the holiday season.
So just remember, the next time someone on I-480 cuts you off while weaving in and out of lanes going what seems to be 200 mph, resist the urge to slam on the pedal yourself to catch up and give that person the finger - GasBuddy is watching and we need to maintain our high ranking on this prestigious list!
